Restaurante O Cantil

sou de Lisboa e vou de tempos a tempos ao Algarve com a família e amigos e na ultima viagem encontrei este restaurante um lugar agradável e acolhedor e calmo com um excelente serviço e empregados simpáticos gostei muito da comida fresca e saborosa 7*******

We have eaten here on three occasions and each time the food has been very good and the service very friendly. In the height of the summer it can get pretty busy and it seems to used a lot by local families as the food is very typical Portuguese (as well as all of the usual fish and meat dishes they often also have rabbit for example) and the price also seems a little lower than the other restaurants in the area. However everyone is very welcome. Last time in we had a fish soup and grilled prawns with garlic to start which were all very good and then I had the fried squid with chips and salad, which was a large plateful of food for only €7.5 which seemed pretty good value to me.

Tried this place one evening but can assure you we would never go again.To cut a long story short they tried passing beef steak off for veal steak.Our grandaughter 21yrs old not a child ordered veal steak with a pepper sauce it arrived covered in a mushroom sauce which was also on the menu.She pointed out to the waiter on ordering that it was the pepper sauce she wanted as she is allergic to mushrooms.When it arrived by another waiter she explained this.He took it back leaving the rice and chips behind.After only 3/4 mins another plate arrived covered in a pepper sauce.I tasted the sauce to find a distinct mushroom flavour and cut the meat to find it was beef.There was no beef steak with pepper sauce on the menu,only one with mushroom sauce and one with another sauce.Veal steak on the menu was 15 euros and beef steak was11 euros.We asked for the manager who wasnt interested and just asked what we wanted.My husband just said the Bill.We got the bill and the cheek of it 3 glasses of port.My husband and I had ordered Fish Cataplana which we only tasted it wasnt very nice.All in all we left the food 3/4 bottle wine a beer and coke.We did pay the bill as we just wanted to leave .Never experienced anything like this before in 21yrs going to Albufeira and Olhos D Agua.
